היסטוריה והיסטוריוגרפיה של צילום

במפנה המאה ה-21 חל שינוי פרדיגמה בתחום ההיסטוריוגרפיה של הצילום – מדגש אמנותי לדגש תרבותי רב-תחומי. נושא זה נדון במאמר שפרסמתי ב-2010 ב-Journal of Art Historiography והתפרסם שנית ב-2016 בספר Photomediations:

צילום תיעודי-חברתי בארה"ב מתקופת השפל הכלכלי עד המלחמה הקרה

עבודות התזה והדוקטורט שלי בהנחייתה של פרופ' מיכל סובל ז"ל, התמקדו בחקר ספרי צילום תיעודיים בארה"ב בתקופת השפל הכלכלי, ותרומתי המרכזית לחקר הנושא היא בחינה בהקשר רחב של ספרי מחאה אנטי-קפיטליסטית ואנטי-גזענית בהם נעשה שימוש בתצלומים – נושא שפיתחתי עוד בספרי – ספר הצילום התיעודי: ביקורת חברה ותרבות בארה"ב בתקופת השפל הכלכלי והניו-דיל (רסלינג, 2013). החל מ-2012, במסגרת פוסט-דוקטורט בהנחיית פרופ' אלי לדרהנדלר מהמכון ליהדות בת זמננו באוניברסיטה העברית, ערכתי מחקר מתמשך שהסתכם בארבעה מאמרים על ליגת הצילום של ניו יורק: קבוצת צלמות וצלמים מתעדים-חברתיים שפעלו בניו יורק בין אמצע שנות ה-1930 לתחילת ה-1950 והדמויות הבולטות בה היו יהודים בני דור שני למשפחות מהגרים ממזרח אירופה.
