התרבות והאוריינות החזותית הן תחומי מחקר והוראה חדשים יחסית, שתופסים מקום גדל והולך באקדמיה – בין אם בפני עצמם ובין אם במסגרת בינתחומית דוגמת אנתרופולוגיה חזותית, היסטוריה תרבותית, חינוך חזותי, ועוד. נדבך אחד של מחקרי מבוסס על חוויית ההוראה-למידה בקורסי הבחירה שלי במוקד לשילוב אמנויות בחינוך, העוסקים בתרבות חזותית ואוריינות חזותית בפרספקטיבה של הפדגוגיה הביקורתית. המחקרים מבוססים על ראיונות, שאלונים פתוחים וחקרי מקרה.
